aerogarden
"The Land" is a space age, food-producing farm, using the most advanced growing methods in the world, featuring Aeroponics. This 4-acre, state-of-the-art, working garden demonstrates the ease, simplicity and outstanding growth rates achieved when growing without soil using Aeroponics and Hydroponics.
"The Land" was developed to entertain and educate visitors about the most advanced agricultural technologies in the world.
"The Land" today produces more than 20,000 pounds of food every year for use in Disney World's upscale restaurants.

Using the advanced soil-less growing technologies featured at "The Land," farmers can produce tomatoes at 250 tons per acre per year, rather than the average in the world, which is 10 tons per year, a potential 25-time increase over traditional, soil-based farming methods.
A cutting edge research and demonstration facility.
Tested by NASA for growing high yield, pesticide free crops for use in space travel...
1. Weight — Soil, water and fertilizers are heavy and expensive to launch into space.
2. Toxicity — Pesticides and other chemicals are considered too toxic to introduce into the confined environments of space living.
3. Productivity/efficiency — Testing was confined to growing methods that produced the highest crop yield in the least amount of space.
In the resulting tests, Aeroponic growing methods proved the clear winner over the most advanced systems that had been developed to date. Aeroponics not only significantly reduced weight (by requiring 95% less water and no soil) it also outproduced the next best system by delivering 82% more bio mass (food), using only organic nutrients and no pesticides.
